Getting FortalezaGet inBy air The very modern International Airport Pinto Martins was opened in 1998. Airlines fly to almost everywhere in Brazil and also other capitals of South America. By bus The Central bus station links Fortaleza with all the capitals in the Northeast region and also Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. There are taxis outside the gate of the first floor and prices are fixed beforehand. From the airport to anywhere by the beach, price runs around R$ 28. After 8 pm, a surcharge of 20% applies. Urban buses run at the basement, outside the parking loot. Get aroundBy bus Probably the most important bus lines for tourists are Circular 1 and Circular 2. Both lines cover a ring around the city, but in opposite directions. Circular 1 follows the shore line from South to North, from Mucuripe to Iracema and on the downtown. Circular 2 goes from North to South, from Iracema to Mucuripe then on to the Shopping Iguatemi. Both the Circulars run along the Avenida da Abolição, a parallel to the beach avenue; Circular 1 and Circular 2 alone allow easy travelling along the main urban beaches. |
